I’m hoping one of the next books has arches that show a woman who doesn’t need marriage to fulfill her self-esteem and a man that hasn’t relied on the luck of his birth gender at all times to navigate life. We all know lust isn’t the thing that will sustain the long term healthy behavior, especially with characters who are suddenly seduced into good behavior to get to the altar. Their lust seems to always be the final emotion that helps them overcome their behavioral deficiencies, yet that reiterates their ineptitude at self awareness and humility. However, by this fourth book I find myself continually annoyed at how all the female characters are painted somewhat pathetically, woefully enamored by their male counterparts with painfully deep insecurities about their worth, while the male counterparts vacillate between arrogant, entitled and petulant with little to no remorse or self-awareness after they threaten violence or man-handle their partners when they “misbehave”. Rosalyn Landor is equally an incredible actor. Julia Quinn knows she’s brilliantly interwoven the large Bridgerton family romances into a series of books where we get glimpses into the “after ever after” and keep us coming back to see live behind the curtain. I am admittedly completely addicted to this series.

When he discovers that Penelope has secrets of her own, this elusive bachelor must decide. But when Colin returns to London from a trip abroad, he discovers nothing in his life is quite the same-especially Penelope Featherington! The girl who was always simply there is suddenly the girl haunting his dreams. and fears she doesn’t know him at all.Ĭolin Bridgerton is tired of being thought of as nothing but an empty-headed charmer, tired of the notorious gossip columnist Lady Whistledown, who can’t seem to publish an edition without mentioning him. After half a lifetime of watching Colin Bridgerton from afar, she thinks she knows everything about him, until she stumbles across his deepest secret.

Penelope Featherington has secretly adored her best friend’s brother for. The inspiration for season three of BRIDGERTON, a series created by Shondaland for Netflix, from #1 New York Times bestselling author Julia Quinn: the story of Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington in the fourth of her beloved Regency-set novels featuring the charming, powerful Bridgerton family.
